Before submitting your website to any of the web directories, make sure your website has passed the following checklist.

- Make sure your server doesn’t goes off every now and then, if it is un-reliable, move your website to a reliable host.
- Make sure all the pages of your website are complete and in every aspect. Make sure your website is not under construction or incomplete.
- Make sure you check your website for any broken links and if you find any correct them.
- Make sure your website is not over optimized and not stuffed with keywords. Optimize your website for required keywords and keep them to two or three keywords.
Once you are done with the above checklist. Prepare yourself to start the directory submissions. Firstly prepare the title, description and keywords for the website you are going to submit in web directories.
Remember:
Always have multiple titles, descriptions, keywords and website URL ready before starting your submission, because different web directories have different criteria (number of words in title, description and keywords).

For better results always have keywords phrases in title, and description. But make sure you do not make it look like you have stuffed keywords. So, always use catchy titles and description and be descriptive which holds attention of a general user as well as human editors.

If you are not sure do a search with your keywords within that particular web directory, where you can get an idea where to submit after seeing other relevant websites that are listed in and you can select the most appropriate category for your website. The other way is to find the categories where your competitors are listed and choose that category. Never submit your whole list of keywords as most of the quality web directories will not accept.

Always remember that if you make your description, title look like it’s been stuffed with keywords and nothing else, the editor will change the title, description, and some editors will just remove/reject your submission, which is not the result that you are expecting.
